Bill (Billy) Irwin ’73

Bill (Billy) Irwin ’73 was an active Mustang during his time at Thomas Jefferson High School. Bill’s sister, Becky ‘65, is also a Jefferson graduate. Bill was involved in the Senate Club, German Club, Orchestra, Sophomore Scholastic Society and National Honor Society. Bill and his fellow Sophomore Scholastic Society members maintained a 4.0 GPA.

Bill states, “Our class was a great group of individuals that had pride and spirit.” He was active at games with the Senate Club and helped with the many dances the sister social clubs worked. Bill was also active in the Orchestra that provided the music for several plays and special holiday music for the school. He served as a Senate Club Officer and Orchestra President.

After graduation, Bill worked continuously to earn money for college. He received a scholarship from Trinity University his freshman year and later transferred to UTSA where he earned a Bachelor of Business Administration in Financial Economics.

After college, Bill began his career as a Stock Broker/Financial Analyst and then ventured into Insurance Underwriting Branch Management. For the last 15 years, he has been a partner of a local insurance agency. Bill retired from insurance and has owned/operated a bed and breakfast in Helotes, Texas, since 1998. His property is a venue for special events. Additionally, Bill owns rental properties in the area as well as other commercial properties.

Bill offers the following advice to fellow Mustangs: “Cherish those years at Jeff. Study hard and engage in activities the school offers. Because of Jeff, it helped me to be the person I am today! All I have now are the wonderful memories to share.”
