Patricia Joyce Schroeder Moss ’67 would be right at the top of the list if you asked the Lasso Alumni Association about this year's most dedicated member. Pat currently serves as the TJHS Lasso Alumni Association President.
When Pat attended Jefferson, she was in Lassos and the Lassos Roping Team. Pat was also in Student Council, National Honor Society, the Martha Skelton Club and German Club. Her three brothers also attended Jefferson. John graduated in 1958, and Mike and Doug, her twin brothers, graduated in 1965. After high school, Pat completed coursework at Southwest Texas State University and San Antonio College.
After college, Pat worked as an office manager for Liberty House (Rhodes) Department Stores for over five years. Additionally, she worked for KSAT-TV for 20 years as the Accounts Receivable Manager and Credit Manager. Pat was also a personal bookkeeper for several people. Outside of work, Pat was a Girl Scout Leader and Cookie Mom for three years.
Currently, Pat gives back by volunteering. She participates in the occasional mission work at church. Additionally, Pat has been with the Lasso Alumni Association since 2010 and has served as the 2012 and 2013 President. Although Pat stays very busy, Pat likes to “spend as much time as I can with my Daughter’s Family and with my sweetest husband in the world.”
Regarding her biggest influences, Pat said, “Lassos taught me many things. It taught me responsibility, self-confidence and fun! I learned to be a team leader and had great respect for the Lasso Sponsor Bess Richards.” Pat credits Mr. Weiss for teaching her to love math. Pat mentioned, “Algebra I and II were my favorite classes next to Lassos. Go Lassos Go! Yea Roping Team!”
Pat offers the following advice to the next generation of Mustangs: “Go Mustangs! Have pride in your school; it is the best high school in the USA, and the most beautiful one. Treat your school with respect. Have school spirit and be involved in school activities. Learn leadership, and stay busy. There is no time for boredom at Jefferson. Be friends with everyone you meet, and remember to give your smile away everyday. Encourage others to be their best, and do the same for yourself. Help others when you can. Study hard, and establish your goals. Be positive all the time. You can do anything!”
Thank you Pat for this interview for serving as a great role model for all TJHS Mustangs.
